Travel to Hong Kong
Hong Kong is one of Asia's most popular travel spots, and there are very good reasons why. It is a small but bustling city with a night life that is comparable to the Caribbean, and a collected peacefulness that hints at Hong Kong's Buddhist heritage. Travelers to Asia should certainly make Hong Kong one of their priority destinations.
Similar to the Philipines and India, Hong Kong's people have one of the highest levels of English proficiency in Asia. English comes naturally to Hong Kong's people because of the city's former UK colonial status, so getting by in English for tasks like shopping, asking directions, and order food shouldn't be very difficult. The majority of educated Hong Kong residents understand English very well, especially now that 'English as a Second Language' is already being taught in Hong Kong schools.
If you enjoy culinary variety, then Hong Kong is the place for you. I really recommend you try some typically Chinese foods like Dim Sum. Some other great dishes from China are chicken-lo-mein, Peking duck, stuffed scallops, delicious Tong Cho oysters, tofu dishes, fried whole trout, and exotic seafood plates of soft-shell crab topped with crawfish tails. If you get tired of Chinese food and miss Western food, do not worry ? Western fast food chains such as McDonalds, Starbucks, and all other big names are here, as well as other Western style restaurants.
Hong Kong is definitely not the best bargain in Asia, but it is well worth it. You can stay in youth hostel dorm rooms to save money. You can also stick to authentic Chinese food at budget restaurants rather than eating out at restaurants. A budget of approximately 250 Hong Kong dollars per day would probably suffice. But remember ? Hong Kong is a shopping paradise and it can get very hard to resist the urge to buy, so hold on to your money if you do not want to overspend
